  1. Hi All, I am on the lookout for a hot foil machine. But as far as I can tell, there are different types of fonts. Some, like the Kingsley machines work with long blocks and some of the newer types (mostly made in china) have very tiny fonts that are slid into the holder. I am more interested in the block type. My question is if you have any experience if those block type fonts like the one Kingsley uses would fit into a Kwikprint or an Elephant KSF Mini. Or, if you use those block type ones, what other machines do you use yours with?
  2. Hi guys, what color do you prefer for using with an electric edge creaser? Aside Fiebigs?
  3. Proud as one can be. Today I got a great part of my soon to be edge creaser station. Those tips are from Elfita, South Korea. Very nice wood handle. Excellent service. However, I have to say I was in the lucky situation to be able to communicate in Korean with them. I heard in some cases that language was an issue. I have a question to the Regad owners. Do you know the temperature range of the station?
  4. I am bit more clever know. I asked a screw maker to make me some and he said no because these screws are actually forged! I am trying to get some made. So if any of you are interested, and it would actually dampen the price I have to pay if I get more than 2 done, just say so. The thread diameter is 6.59 mm exactly (the guy in the screw shop had a digital caliper). I will write the exact measurements a little later when I have an answer from the maker. But that might help you already to figure out if the diameter is the right one.
  5. I would like to start a somewhat provocative discussion about Blanchard tools. I just had a phone call with a seller of mainly Blanchard tools who told me he replaced those he sold "with better tools". Aside the fact that Blanchard actually still makes leather tools which in itself is remarkable, I myself have found a lot of items much cheaper from other suppliers where I can hardly see a difference in comfort, sharpness or longevity. There are other makers out there similarly re-known like Amy Roke for pricking irons, or the newly surfaced design-winning S.Korean company Doldokki with a similar reputation. Nevertheless, I just bought a completely lovely pricking iron set for a fraction of the price from a completely unknown Chinese company that even looks like the old Amy Roke design. When I held it against the old design it was even identical, the only difference being 10g in tool weight. So what do you guys think? Is Blanchard overrated? Why would you go for it? Why not?
  6. I am in metric Europe. So that's kind of a problem. Yes, the one in the photo isn't damaged. The one in my purse is with which I went to a German screw store (yes, you heard right, a store just for screws like zig million screws in there) without success.
  7. I acquired a very decent Blanchard Paris gauge, probably between WWI and WWII. However, it has been in the hands of a very awful person who treated it extremely bad. One damage I couldn't yet solve are the screws. It has two eyelet screws with a diameter of 6.59 mm which is probably 1/4 inch.Do you guys have an idea where I get two of those screws???
  8. How do I use the adjustable groove compass properly? (see here how it looks) https://craftntools.com/vergez-blanchard/compasses/adjustable-groove-compass I wonder, how it could possibly move around its axis when the axis is actually splitted and not pointed. Are there any videos out there, or could someone do one?
