This is my second Metal Detecting Trash/Finds Pouch. Made with veg tan 5-6 oz tooling leather, Fiebing's Russet dye.

Did you clean the surface with alcohol? there maybe some body oils or other substances on the surface which causes you problem. Try cleaning the surface with rubbing alcohol on a scrap piece then dye it.

I am making a small pouch with a flap closure with 6-7 oz leather and it is a bit stiff. How can I make the flap lay nice on the open top of the small pouch? Thank You

This is my first creation, I made it out of a scrap piece of leather which still had a rough back side but it still worked out ok. planning on using 6-7 oz veg tan leather next time, easier to handle. This stuff was very soft 7-8 oz. I had fun doing it.
