  1. Just for kicks what do you do with the bellies.JH
  2. I really like using HO and right now all I can get is a side. When I started I used double shoulders, but that was mexican tanned stuff. JH
  3. Hello all. I am running into the problem of having a lot of left over belly. I buy HO sides and make mostly holsters and gun belts. I was wanting to what do you all do with the left overs. By the way it is about 1/3 of the hide I am stuck with. I do not want to use this for holsters due to the stretch factor. Thanks JH
  4. I like the color and inlay. I think the stitching looks good. It does look like there is not enough room for a full grip on the pistol. I like to make my holster cut back around the grips. That's about the only thing I would have done different. I still have not braved the task of doing an inlay. JH
  5. I agree, Dwight. Even if the gun did not flop around, I would think that the fleece would cause the gun/holster to bulge out and defeat the purpose of concealment. Just my 2 cents. Jeremiah
  6. Thanks. I made it to be quicker, but I couldn't try it out. I am a bit smaller around than the man it's made for.
  7. I am not sure. The stamps are the same. I am not much of a carver and the bead lines could be better. On the loop I took off the stitch line measurement. Thank you all for the comments I feel blessed to have this resource here to learn from. Jeremiah
  8. Thanks. The 22 is finished with neatsfoot oil and good ol sunshine. That was the first time I tried it and I like the results. Thanks again Jeremiah
  9. It does seem like family is the worse people to deal with. I have tried to study leather work and holster making for about six years and they still know more than me.lol
  10. This is some of my work. the first one is for a 22 I think it was a 9 shot. the other is for a B 92 It has a thumb break. The 22 is lined with 3/4 oz both holsters are made ou of 7/8 oz HO. Thanks for looking and let me know if there is anything I could have done different. Jeremiah
  11. Thanks guys. The holster is cut low in from, and could use more coverage. I did wet mold around the cylinder, and as of now the pistol don't move much. I also put a hammer tie down on it. The customer is around 80, I am not sure but I think he wanted something for looks more than using. That doesn't mean I took any short cuts when I made the rig. Thanks again for looking and the kind words.
  12. I have a friend that I have made several holsters for and no matter what I can never please him. I always gett, " It's fine, but if you could just shave off about 1/32" then it would be great." I still don't know why I even bother taking on a job from him. Oh and not to mention he is a very cheap person too.
  13. This is a sixgun rig that I made for a guy to fit a 4 3/4" colt 45. The belt is double thickness 6/7 oz HO. The holster is 6/7 oz and lined with 7/8 oz. The outside should have been 7/8 but oh well. I designed this style of holster to be a little quicker on the draw, not sure if it made a differnce or not. The color is febings oil dye in light brown,I also added a little black around the stamping to give it an antiqued look. The border stamps are a Barry King and an old homemade stamp. The photos are not the best due operator error. Thanks for looking and let me know what you all think. Critiques are welcome also, I am always trying to get better.
  14. You are right I clicked on the wrong picture when I up loaded them.
  15. These are some of the holsters I finished this month. One is for a buckmark (with a red dot scope) one is for a kahr cw9 and the other I can't remember what the make/mode was. Let me know what you all think. I have a thick skin. I used HO for all 7/8 oz.. The kahr is a med. brown and the other two are a light oil brown. The Buckmarck took some thinking I was not sure my little mind could create the same ideas as Mr. Customer. He did call me after they were deliverd and said thank you and ordered three other holsters. I t was a good day. buckmark kahr
  16. I was not planing on doing anything on the spot. I really don't have the set up for a lot of belts. I was going to bring examples of the boarder stamps. I didn't know that cell phone cases would sell. This is my test run to see if I can get some orders and sell my products. I had not thought to have order forms, I am for sure going to take some. I am new to selling on a high level. Since January I have been able to sell more and even picked up a store to carry my holsters. I have high hopes. The show is Saturday so I will post how it goes. Thanks again for the help. Jeremiah
  17. Thanks for the help. I am not making a lot stuff, just an example of what I do and of things that I have sold the most of. The cheap dealers do concern me, I wish people would see quality other than price. Again thanks for the input. Jeremiah
  18. I am going to have a booth at a gun show and was wanting some input form the pros. Do these shows seem to be worth thE time and what would be some good gun suggestions. Thanks for looking Jeremiah
  19. This is the back. I think I like the natural wool better, it just feels softer. Thanks for looking, Jeremiah
  20. Here is another pic. This is of the elastic. Does anyone know if this would work for a glock or would the gun be to heavy. I have had good reports on how these holsters hold the gun. I wear the LCP in this style when clothing will not allow for the 1911. Thanks again for looking. Jeremiah
  21. This is a ankle holster I made for the LCR. I used 6-7 oz HO for the leather. I backed with the fake wool and used 2" elastic and a velcro attachment. I like the way it turned out, other than, I put a little to much cant on the gun. With boot cut or loose pants there will not be a problem (this what MR. Customer wears). Any thought or comments are welcome. Thahks for looking. Jeremiah
  22. Amy, I live south east of springfield missouri. Most of my work is holsters. I would be interested in talking to you about displaying some of my work. You can email. Me at jhicks02@drury.edu. I look forward to hearing form you. Thank you JJeremiah
  23. The people alone are worth meeting. I too live about 60 miles away. I go to springfield about once a month. Kevin has a great deal of know how about leather. And if you need something just ask, chances are they have it or can get it. Again the customer service is about the best in Sprinfield. Good luck, Jeremiah
  24. Thanks for all the help! I will try both ways soon, My Kimber needs something new to wear. I guess is was over thing the stiched channels and under thinking the molded. Again thanks for the help. I'll try to post some pictures when the holster is done. Jeremiah
  25. I think i will give notching a dowel rod a try. Is a stiched channel better than a molded one? I know the stiched channel would add another step, but is it worth it? Also do the extra pieces of leather ride on top of the slide? Sorry if I am asking so many question, it's just I have never looked that close at a stiched sight channel. Thanks for the input, Jeremiah
