Hello, i made my first watch strap with lining and it was the first time sewing something except scraps. I have some questions, but please tell me anything that you thing i should fix. I sew the long part first and i think i did the short one a little bit better but it was not good either. Is the problem the tension or the uneven movements while sewing? The strap was perfectly straight at the beginning but it became like this after i opened the holes for the sewing. It stretched unevenly. Also i damaged the edges too much while sewing. Is there a way to not damage them too much or should i fix them after sewing? Thanks!

Hi, I recently bought sanjou 632(0.51mm) thread and it's too thin for the 3mm chinese diamond pricking irons that i have, but i like the thread so i thought about buying new pricking irons. I'm thinking about the basic 2.7mm(10spi) french pricking irons from kevin lee and from what i understand, for better results i should also buy an awl. Kevin lee has 2mm and 2.5mm awls. Other shops have 3+mm. What size should i buy?

I'm from Athens, Greece. I'll try getting some experience with the leather i have for now. For scraps i'll search local stores and maybe order from buyleatheronline, which has low shipping cost and no custom fees.

Hi, last week i bought leather for the first time. I want to make watch straps and other small leather items as a hobby and i bought a cheap piece of leather for testing purposes. I think the shop owner said that its cow but i don't know anything about the tanning or the finishing. The problem is that when i bend it, it cracks, the colour lightens and the texture becomes rough. Is that normal? Is it a quality problem or this type of leather is not suitable for a strap? In the pictures bellow one piece became like this just by touching it and the other after some bending.
