JLSleather, the owner of that seat came to me with the request for this seat and when he told me what he wanted i looked at him and told him he didnt look like a someone whom resided in the big house! he laughed at me and said it was refering to life behind the handlebars.... it was a fun project it was my first using eyelets.
fletch my brother was a jarhead and he had a drawing in his photobook that i took and photoshopped. send me your email and i will send you a copy!
thanks for looking!
Those look great!
Former "Jarhead" myself. I am about to make a tooled piece for a sunroof cover and that Eagle Globe and Anchor look perfect. May I ask where you got that pattern from? The size and proportions look great.
I tried to take a smaller one to a local xerox place to have it enlarged but the proportions looked very strange to my eye, unbalanced.

I hope you guys enjoy them.

do you glue your seat to the plastic to keep it from stretching?
-
great seat david! how many hours does a seat like this takes?

nice seat!

what a great seat!

thanks guys!
I did use glue but I didnt use it all over the top foam. just on the largest area of the seat and not too much at that. but for the next one I will use more glue if it would make it easier to form.
to seal the seat I used carnuba leather wax then sheen. I didnt have any problems with it running or seaping.

Thanks!the top and bottom are glued to the pan/padding and each other then sewn.
i just use artificial sinew (waxed) that is recommended for hand stitching, two needles, diamond point awl ect.
the seat looks very clean and the stitch is awesome, I hope I can get that good someday.

I used eco-flo lime green stain with black oil stain.
Very cool looking, good job. What did you use to color it with? -
A fellow student of MMI wanted me to recover his lepera seat with flames for his bike. this is what i came up with. since im just starting I didnt know what i was getting into but i guess it turned out good.
Stretching leather is not fun at all!!!! but i guess if you have patience and time its worth the hassle.
tell me what you guys think, cause i want to keep getting better.
I will post pics of the seat on his bike as soon as i get some
