  1. It can be difficult to determine if a piece of leather is genuine or not, especially when dealing with bleeding dye. One way to check is by examining the pores on the surface of the leather - genuine leather will have irregular and inconsistent pores while synthetic materials will often have consistent and uniform pores.
  2. It is possible that this stool was created as a commemorative item for someone connected to Admiral Nelson or his era of naval history. Alternatively, it could have been made as a decorative furnishing for a home or business with an interest in nautical themes.
  3. Absolutely! Dyeing your leather before antiquing helps to create a much richer, more vibrant color that will stay true even after antiquing. It also helps to create a protective barrier around the leather which can help prevent it from drying out. Additionally, dyeing beforehand can help you achieve a more consistent and even look when antiquing, as the dye makes it easier for the antique to stick and adhere better than if you were to just use an antique gel alone. Hope this helps!
  4. Yes, you are right! Most laser machines close during operation to protect the user from the harmful emissions. However, depending on the type of machine and its specifications, some machines may not have this feature. In that case, it is recommended to use a hood to ensure safety.
  5. It seems like you got many options here but still I recommend that you first try a mild soap and water solution to remove the ink stain before using a deglazer. Deglazers are designed to strip away any existing finish, so it's best to only use them after you've tried other methods of removing the stain first. If you're still having trouble removing the stain, then using Fiebings deglazer may be an option. I also recommend that you test it on an inconspicuous part of the leather first before applying it over the entire surface. Good luck
