  1. I am trying to get my Singer 111W155 back up to good working order.

It has been in storage for the last 38 years, put away well oiled and kept in the original packaging and box. I pulled it back out this year in order to assist my wife in her sign and banner business.

I have used this site as the main source of information regarding the upkeep of this beast.

For some reason the stitch length indicator is off by a mile. I have tried to loosen the set screw and realign the indicator dial, but it is not moving and I would rather not try to force it.

The manual suggests that by loosening the dial and pressing the adjustment button it should turn to the stitch count. BUT the dial does not release. I have the stitch count at 8 per inch but the dial reads 20 per inch.

    Any suggestions for this adjustment?

  3. I am no longer a leather artisan, but have brought my Singer 111W155 out of storage (36 years in the original box) oiled it up and begun to use it again to stitch canvas for my wife's sign and banner making work. I had a pretty bad problem with the stitching that appears to have been because the walking foot had sharp edges on it, (thank you sewing machines.com {which was contacted because of an earlier post in this forum} ). I now would like to clean and adjust the machine, I have a copy of the manual for this and the other 111W machines. Are there any suggestions by those who have done this job before, as to what I should do and expect when trying to do, the necessary work? Derek Weaver
