Hi everyone. I have a cobra class 4. Just bought and just started using. Up until now I've hand sewn everything. Something I hadn't thought about popped up today.. when sewing a piece if hardware to a strap, buckle, ring, etc... going one way I can stitch fairly close to the hardware. Going the other way the presser foot comes down where the leather is folded over the hardware. So the it doesn't want ti feed the leather correctly then and the first few stitches look awful. If I flip thw strap over so I can sew towards the hardware then the bottom stitches become the top stitches and don't look as nice. See my photos attached. Is there a way to fix this? Special presser foot? Thank you all in advance for the help. I truly appreciate it. Brian

Hi. Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it. Right now I have barbours 4 cord linen thread in the cobra class 4. I have silicone lubricant in the wax pot. I don't honestly care what lube I have to use as long as I can use linen thread in the machine. The silicone lube seems to have made it worse honestly. I actually was stitching with linen before I added the lube. I wad told the lube would add strength and if I was using linen thread I needed to use lubricant. . For the needle im using schmetz 200/25 Not sure what the thread size I'm using in the juki 341 is. It says 16 on the spool. Lol. I've been getting it for years at a local fabric shop. I'll attach a photo. The needle is a schmetz 140/22. I only use that for lighter leather. Like 3 oz and below.

I called the folks at leather machine Co before I purchased the machine and they said I could use linen thread as long as I used a wax pot. I also had asked a similar question here a while ago and the response I got here seemed tk indicate that too. So now I'm confused. I had a Campbell randall in my shop a friend was nice enough to let me use for a while and I didn't have the time to mess with it. I needed a simpler machine. So I got this cobra under the understanding that I should be able to use linen thread as long as I used a wax pot. Now I'm very confused. Lol. I run cotton thread through my Juki 341 and it does just fine

Hello. I got a cobra class 4 machine recently and it was stitching just fine. Even with linen thread. However wanted to add a wax pot since I use primarily linen thread. Mostly 4 cord barbours. After I added the wax pot, now it doesn't seem yo want to stitch well, sometimes not at all. Adding the wax pot with silicone lube is literally all I changed. Does anyone have any experience with this? Or know whats going on? I tried adjusting the tension, etc... it seemed to help a bit but not much. The machine is new to me so I have had tne chance to mess with it alot. Just thought I'd put this out there for some feedback. Thanks for any and all help. Brian.

Hello. Where can I find a wax pot for my juki LS-341 machine? I'm running natural thread through it and I can't seem to find a wax pot online anywhere. Thanks for any and all help. Brian.

I would love to get a 441 machine. If you know of one for sale please let me know.

Thank you again for the help. I very much appreciate it. I'm looking into the weaver cub. I really like th looks of it and I think I would be better turning the flywheel rather than the back and forth hand crank. Plus I would think if you wanted to you could take that fly wheel off and put a pulley on and add a motor later on. Also it looks like it had more room up top to add the wax pot in line with the thread.

Thank you both for your help. It's much appreciated. I'm actually looking for something a little more simple like the first three machines mentioned. I have a needle ans awl in my shop right now, doesn't belong to me. I was very kindly given it to try, and its just a bit too tome consuming for me I'm afraid. I just need something more simple. I like the outlaw and weavers cub cause they are not huge. I dint have a ton of space in my shop right now unfortunately.

Do you still have this?

@CowboyBob I'm wondering could you put a wax pot on this machine and stitch with linen thread? I use 4 cord barbours.

Hello everyone. I've been doing leather work for about 25 years and it's mostly been hand sewing. I'm considering buying a simple machine that can stitch heavy leather. Sometimes sewing several layers of 10-12oz together. The trick i need to use linen thread. And I'd like to use a wax pot. Can I literally run a wax pot and linen on any heavier machinre? I usually use 4 cord. Iam considering the cowboy outlaw because of its simplicity. But I'm also looking as several 441 machines. Anyone have any ideas on using 4 cord linen thread and the wax pot? Also any recommendations on the machines? Thanks in advance for any and all help. I appreciate it. Brian Merrick

Hi. I know this thread is very old, sorry. But I was wondering can a juki LS-341N sew heavier leather like 10 oz and above with linen thread as long as a wax pot is used? Is there even a wax pot available for that machine? Thanks.
