  1. I'm really new to sewing leather and have a cylinder arm machine that I'm starting to learn how to use. The problem I have is sewing bag gussets, going from 2 layers to 3 layers of leather the stitches start skipping. Going round the corners there's hardly anything - just a long line of thread with the occasional stitch. The leather isn't particularly thick and I'd have thought the machine should handle it no problem. I've just had the machine serviced and was told it's like new, just set up incorrectly for leather work, which they corrected. Am at a loss about what to do. It's ruining all the leather as the holes are now punched in the leather but the stitching has to be unpicked!
