This is an updated list of the stamps I'm looking for, to use in Scouts. I'm having a really hard time trying to get these stamps. especially the Scout related ones. I'm looking for the following leather stamps. If you have any of them please let me know. I will buy them or we can do a trade. I have lots of stamps that you might want. I'm trying to organize my 3d stamps into categories. This includes the 3d stamp sets also. Between Craftool, Midas, The Leather Factory and the various stamp sets, there are around 1,000 2d/3d stamps. My plan is to stamp them on leather squares, then organize them in notebooks in those plastic sheets that hold slides or baseball cards. I work with scouts and want them to sign out these stamps instead of leaving them out. Many of the stamps are expensive to replace. You would be surprised how many get "lost". I realize that a particular stamp may fall under more than 1 category so i will make multiple copies to cover all the categories they fit in. The categories I have so far are: Animals/Insects/Reptiles (Should these be separate?) Native American Symbols Western Scouts/Youth Groups Religion Nature Biker Organizations Sports Zodiac Celtic Military/First Responder (Tandy just came out with 10 stamps that would fit here) Vehicles Misc. I know I need additional categories since there are so many that don't fall into any of the other categories. So... What categories should I add/delete? What is the minimum number of stamps to start a new category? I'm thinking 6. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks, Dale

I need 2d and 3d leather stamps and sets. I work with scout and youth groups and am trying to get 2 each of all the pictorial leather stamps and stamp sets. If you have some that you are no longer using I could sure use them. Between Craftool, Midas, and The Leather Factory 3d stamps there were about 740 made. Not including the sets. I have less than half of those. So here is the deal: 1. If you could donate stamps that would be fantastic. My address is listed below. In fact I will take any tools that you want to donate. I especially need sets of the 10 "basic" stamps, mallets, swivel knives, tool racks, etc... 2. I have about 260 extra stamps, that I have 3 or more of, that I'm willing to trade for other stamps I need. 3. I am willing to pay for stamps, but to be honest, if you are looking to make a lot of money, then list them on ebay. I have very few of these and no duplicates so I need all of them. Craftool - 8200's - I am surprised at how few of these I have. There are about 69 of these and I have less than 30. with very few duplicates. 8300's - I have a lot of these with duplicates. But I still have about 25 that I need 1 or 2 of. 8400's - I have about half of these with very few duplicates. 8500's - 8500 to 8574 - I only have a handful of these with only 2 that I have duplicates of. 8575 to 8599 - I have 1 of each of these so I need duplicates. 8600's - there are 15 of these that I do not have. I have 1 of each of the rest with few duplicates. 8700's - None Issued 8800 - These came out last year and are the 1/2" or 5/8" 2d and 3d stamps. I have 1 complete set of these but I still need 3 more because I am going to donate 2 to the local scout office. So if you would like to donate any of these they will go directly to the Local BSA. Even the stuff I buy. So I am not looking to get stuff cheap and resell it. They will be used during scout and youth group events and classes. In fact, I just joined a maker space and they already asked me to do leather classes. Any extra stamps and tools that I acquire will be used to trade for what we need and to fill in stamps that our local BSA is missing. Handle stamp sets - The only ones of these sets that I think the kids would be interested in are the Cross set, Large and Small Barb Wire set, The circle stamps with the star, rope and barb wire in it, Steampunk Gears set, Iron Works set and Armed Services Set, The Baron smiley face stamps. Of course all are welcome. Baron Harley Stamp - The one with the number 1 on it. OK, this one is for me and the parents that I let make their own key FOBs. Other handle stamps - Here is what I'm looking for: Craftool - No-Letter stamps. I'm trying to get all the stamps that are needed to do any of the craftaids that were made. Based on the list I got from the internet, I still need 6 letter stamps and 242 no letter stamps. Any other stamps would be greatly appreciated. Letter stamps, A, C, D, E, G, J, K, L, M, N, P, S, U, V W, Y AND Z stamps are used the most. Baron, Midas, Kelly, Craft Japan and others - Any stamps that are like 2d or 3d stamps would definitely be used by the kids. a lot of the Baron and Craft Japan stamps are like that. Also any stamp that makes an interesting border would be cool. Slickers Edge Bevelers - Especially No 2 and 3 Swivel Knives and blades. Setters - Snap, Rivet, eyelet, etc. Hole punches Embossing tool and wheels - These would really be nice to have. Leather Shears Mallets and Mauls Burnishers Poundo Boards and Clicker pads Any hardware - rivets, snaps, conchos, grommets, spots, buckles, etc... Books, Stencils, Craftaids and patterns Leather kits - even those old ones that never got used. Doesn't everyone need a leather visor. All-in-one dyes - This is the only dye they have time to use. Any high quality tools - I would like to have some of these but I would be afraid they would get stolen. So I would probably trade these for other tools. But feel free to donate them if you want. I have about 750 leather stamps that I'm going to be listing on ebay soon. But I wanted to give you guys a shot at them 1st. These are stamps I have bought over the years to work with Scouts and other Youth Groups. I was saving them because I wanted to put together multiple sets of tools that I could loan out to these groups. But I realize how impractical (expensive) that goal is. I've decided to focus on expanding the 5 sets of tools that our local BSA Council has along with two sets that I'm putting together. One for short (2-4 hour) classes and the other, a much larger set, for use at summer camps or weekly classes I want to do. The proceeds from selling these tools will go towards the purchase of additional tools, supplies, chairs, and workbenches/HD tables for use in Scout and other Youth Group leatherwork classes. I estimate I need around 9k - 10k to get what I need. This amount includes a trailer to store and haul everything around. It is basically everything needed to do classes almost anywhere as long as there is a room to set up in. The pdf file below, is a list of the Stamps and the prices. If I only have 1 of a particular stamp, you will get that stamp. If I have more than 1, then I will pick it out. I can send photos of the exact stamps before shipping, just ask. This is an update to the leather tools I need for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. (I'll do another post of my progress on leather tools for our Girl Scout Council at a later date). PLEASE LET OTHER LEATHERWORKERS KNOW ABOUT THIS POST. I am currently looking for donations of the tools listed below. NOTE: First of all, I do realize that it is unlikely that I'm going to get everyone in the forum to clean out all their unused leather tools and send them to me. Leather tools are expensive. What I would like is that all the people that read this, think about picking out a few tools that they don't use anymore and send them to me. Maybe you've upgraded to Barry King or another maker. Maybe you have some 3D stamps you know you will never use again. Even if you are going to sell them, you can afford to take a few out and send them my way. If I could get 100 people to do this it's worth the effort. My posts are already much too long so If you would like to discuss any of this with me, send me a message with your phone number and I would be happy to explain, in great detail, what I am trying to do. This all started with me helping out with a Leatherworking Merit Badge class last May and I noticed how incomplete their tool set was and the horrible condition they were in. But once I started looking at their leather tools and programs, it turned into a rabbit hole. I am trying to get our Local (Las Vegas) BSA Council's leather tools in shape. The leather tools that they had were in such poor condition that I had to throw many of them away. It doesn't look like they have any tools or stamps that are less than 20 years old. I donated over 300 stamps to put together some sets of tools for the Day Camps that they put on. Even with what I donated, they are still very much incomplete. These tool sets are loaned to the different districts in our council when they run a Day Camp which are held between May and October. In addition, these sets are loaned out for merit badge classes. I also inventoried the leather tools at the Boy Scout summer camp and was astonished how little they had. I ended up leaving many of my tools and stamps for them to use last summer just so they would have a good selection of 3d stamps and alphabets to choose from. There is a lot they need, just to do basic projects. They don't even have a hole punch or rivet setter. There is a 3rd program called Scout Reach. It is designed to provide opportunities for at-risk children to get a taste of some scouting activities and hopefully get some of them to join the Cub Scout Pack at their school. I looked at their tools and there is almost nothing left. Some of the stamps were so damaged that I couldn't even identify what the stamp was to begin with. They have not included leathercraft in this program for about 2 years. But they very much want to. So after I get the Day Camps and Summer Camp tool sets together, I will concentrate on Scout Reach. Because of the way non-profits work, items purchased for a particular program must stay with that program. Here is what has changed since the last request I posted.: They built a park next to the Council Office and need 1 additional set for day camps that they will keep there and not loan out. I juggled tools around from different programs (even though I wasn't supposed to) in order to spread out excess tools from 1 to another. I talked to the "Grand Poobaa" at the council office and except for about $1,000 budgeted for the new, Park Day Camp, there is no money for leather tools. This set will remain on premises, and not be loaned out. I received about a dozen packages containing a wide variety of leather tools. Most of it is going to the Summer Camp. See bottom of post for a list of priorities on use of cash and gift card donations. Hardware items like rivets, key rings, conchos and any other hardware you want to send our way. Any size and finish. Please put them in separate plastic bags. Setters to go with the different fasteners. Craftool Hand Press with any Press Dies. I would like to get a couple for the Summer Camp. Hammer/Mallet Dies in the shape of key fob patterns, rounders, coin purse. Anything they can make a project out of. Clicker Die Cutting Boards - They are usually red. Heavy Mauls - 3lbs and up - If you have any of these hanging around, even if they are in poor shape. We will try to repair them to use. Hole Punches - Oval and Round. All sizes. I have a problem i need to solve asap. I am helping the local BSA with their leather program. Raising money and getting tool donations is going to be a big part of that. But the problem at hand is this. Storage of the 2d/3d leather stamps and alphabet sets. The boxes they have are severely worn and need to be replaced. Tandy discontinued the boxes they sold and currently have some plastic racks that will not work for our needs. Springfield Leather has a box that will work but it has an attached lid that makes it awkward when it is opened on the table, as it takes up twice the space. Since I am looking at a custom solution I have come up with one I think is pretty good. Our Council has multiple sets of tools that have to be kept separate. These are the programs they have: Cub Scout Day Camp - There are supposed to be 4 identical sets of tools that are loaned to the districts whenever they are doing a day camp. They handle up to 20 scouts at a time with multiple sessions throughout the day.These sets are also used for the Leatherwork Merit Badge events sponsored by the council with 20 scouts per class. Usually 2 classes in a day. BSA Scout Reach - There are supposed to be 4 identical sets of tools for use in this program for about 40 kids to use the tools at a time with 3 or 4 groups that use them that day. BSA Summer Camp - Last year our council had 2 summer camps running, one outside Las Vegas and one in Utah. So there are 2 sets of tools that are kept at their respective camps. So there are 10 sets of tools that need to be managed with 8 that are supposed to be mobile. I am thinking of building a front-opening box with trays, of 3/4" plywood,that can be removed and set on a table. The trays would be close enough that the tray above would act as a stop so the stamps wouldn't shift during transport. One of the designs I am considering is having a row of stamps and just below it a leather strip with the stamp impression and stamp number on it. This way I can easily see if anything is missing when the set gets turned in. The problem is that this takes up a little more than twice the space as the regular stamp box. But it will keep the stamps in order. This will apply to the alphabet sets as well. For my own stamps, I used to keep them in the boxes, stacked in a cabinet but every time I wanted a specific stamp or alphabet set it always seemed to be the bottom box I needed. Now I keep them in one of those flat file cabinets commonly known as blueprint, map or art cabinets. Actually I have 3 of them with a total of 15 drawers. Now all the alphabet and 3d stamps are spread out in a single layer. My alphabet sets take up 3 drawers. The 2d/3d stamps including the stamp sets (sports, native american, emojis, etc...) take up 4 and the rest are filled with leather tools and stuff. After I create the same custom trays like I describer above, my 3d stamps will probably use at least 6 drawers. I've seen them on offerup for as little as 90.00 each, so they are a bargain. But not great for mobility. Any other ideas out there? Dale
