arianmanchego Report post Posted April 22, 2022 Hello, I'm considering the purchase of a 29u171 in good condition, but I need to mount the handwheel on the front. The machine in question is set up like the attached picture (not a pic of the actual machine). In other words there is an empty hub up front. I'm thinking that I would need to add a "hand wheel shaft gear" ? part no. 46016 according to the catalog Any idea on where I might find one of these? Not having any luck googling.... Thanks in advance
arianmanchego Report post Posted April 22, 2022 Ha, I finally found on trojansewing.co.uk, some parts that might fit, for the shaft https://www.trojansewing.co.uk/product/singer-29k-handwheel-shaft-82008/ for the gear, there seem to be two options : https://www.trojansewing.co.uk/product/81869-singer-29k-handwheel-shaft-gear-81869/ https://www.trojansewing.co.uk/product/singer-29k-handwheel-top-shaft-gear-81872/ I sent them a message to get their advice. shoepatcher Report post Posted April 24, 2022 The 29U171 was the first Singer shoepatcher made in Japan after they quit making them in Scotland at the Kilbowie. It was a short arm big bobbin. All the parts numbers were changed because thy became metric. The part number for the front shaft and gear is#46016. The one from College is bases on sizing from the Kilbowie. It may fit it. It may not. Parts for these machines are basically non exist. No that going in. I have the books on the machine. glenn
