mygnnss Report post Posted April 28, 2022 Hi, first time posting, don't know a whole lot about sewing machines other than what I've been able to google. I have a Mach 3 currently. I've been wanting to purchase a backup machine, and I've read alot of posts on here about Adler 30-1 vs 30-7 (and models in between). This is my conundrum: I was going to purchase a used Adler sewing machine, but the plate on the machine indicating the model seems to be gone. I really would like to know if anyone can tell if its the 30-1 or 30-7 from a photo? They are asking $1,600 (CDN) and just wanting to know, if its a 30-1 I don't think its worth it. As you can see from the photo, it has been mounted on a singer treadle stand. Any help would be so much appreciated!
Wizcrafts Report post Posted April 28, 2022 If you can get a picture of the shuttle it will reveal whether it is a -1 or -7. I have a 30-7 which looks exactly like this machine and has a large bobbin and shuttle. The nose is 1.25 inches wide to accommodate the large shuttle. The 30-1 has a small bobbin and is only 1 inch wide at the nose. As for the price, I'm in the USA and paid $1300 USD for my 30-7, so $1600 CDN isn't such a bad price. These are heavy duty patchers and will pay for themselves sewing patches onto bikers' vests. They can fix purses, sew cue cases, hem sleeves, replace zippers in jackets and chaps and sew shoe and boot uppers. If this patcher uses the long System 332LLG needles, it can sew 3/8 inch under the foot!
Constabulary Report post Posted April 28, 2022 (edited) Seems to be a 30-1. Little secret - the long needle machines 30-5 and 30-7 have the arm hinge point further to the right. 30-1: 30-7: Edited April 28, 2022 by Constabulary

RenazcoRacing Report post Posted April 30, 2022 (edited) Good info on the long vs short, thank you. I'll be listing mine for sale and curious if anyone can help on what I should ask? Machine came out of a small studio in Los Angeles and was rarely used, I added the servo motor and table. Thanks all! Thanks all! Hello, I'm interested in your Adler patcher if you're still thinking about selling it. I'm in Oakland, CA so I think we maybe somewhat close. Wondering if you bought it and, if so, can I get a copy of the manual? I have had mine for 40 years...was a shoe repair person for 20. Sadly, it has been sitting on my sunroom for 20 years and not used for 10. It never needed repairs but now has some issues and I have forgotten how! Please respond directly to my email because I don't have a computer! peggyrennolds@gmail.com
