best way to hide/repair a scuff

Recommended Posts

I could use some advice on the best way to hide/repair a scuff on garment leather. My stepson tripped and scuffed the leather sleeve of his varsity jacket on a curb. The leather is black, but it does not seem to be a true black (may just be the finish). Any ideas about a method to hide or repair this scar would really be appreciated (and make my wife happier).

Here is a photo of the scuff. Thanks.

Shoe polish is what furniture repair people use for scuffs. Try it in an inconspicous place first. (standard disclaimer!)

fortysomething,

If the shoe polish dont work, shoe makers,& shoemaker supply have color spray & liquid color for garment leather.

It's called nu-life, another is called melatonin. It comes in over 100 different colors. I use it on shoes handbags & leather jackets. It works great.

Thanks for the info craftsman827. The shoe polish appears to have worked. Still a couple of scars, but the color matches so they are less noticeable.

Well, the shoe polish worked great. Our son grabbed his jacket and did a double take. He had to look fairly close to see the repair. Thanks again.
