hat in the same fashion as my armor

The color is darker but the flash makes it bright bright red. There is one image in the compiled pic that is much more true to life, its the darker one of course.

I made this hat in the same fashion as my armor, thus very heavy and overly durable, hardened thick leather. I could beat somebody to death with it probably.

I'll make a less gaudy hat band for it later, it's snarly and cool but it doesn't quite fit, I'll make something much more elegant but wanted to try the snarly look. I made it so it can be removed easily so I can swap it and change the character a bit if need be. It looks pretty sweet without anything really. With a different band I think I'd wear it in public, outside of events like fairs or cons. yep...

Have any of you ever seen a leather hat anything like this?

Yes I've seen hats like that at concerts and free jams in the seventies. But you must understand I was usually under the influence of one or more contraband substances in those times so there may be some discrepancies between what I remember, what I saw and how others remember it.

I don't know that I can say it's like yours, beyond also being a wide brimmed, flat crowned hat made out of leather, but I've got one in gray a friend left to me. Only hat the fellow ever made.

I was just wondering if hats made of tooling hide were common, rare, or what.

I'll be lining the internal band with lambskin or pig skin. It's pretty comfy now though

wow - you've got some great ideas - very fantasy oriented an totally alien to anything I'd ever consider...love it though...and to answer your question-I've not seen anything like that  ever..lol

Luke - Is there any way I can get access to those patterns you have? online examples maybe? I'd like to know how a hat -should- be made lol This one was kind of fun to make and figure out but I'd like to learn some tricks and different patterns
