Is there a video or something else to show how to use it correctly? I have tried several times but can't seem to make it look right. Just put it aside but now would like to use it on a project.

This may not be the "exact" tool you own, but I think it should help!

Here's another, showing how you can use two swivel knife cut lines to keep the pattern under control.

Here’s a link to a tutorial I did for the forum about 15 years ago. I have done a ton of rope borders. Eventually the Craftool stamps will bend up on the ends. I would go through 5-6 of them a year.  Beveling really makes it pop. If you decide you like the rope border, I sell three sizes of rope stamps that have a lot of dimension and a bevel built in.
