Dog collar and leash finish

Hello guys, 

I'm starting making dog collars and leashes from Veg Tan leather. I use this forum for awesome tips and tricks which helped me to get better and better in my work. But I need little help with finish my products. I need leather to be more water resistant (rain, wet dog hair, etc...). I use this metod below but leather still soak. Should I change something or use different products?

1. Pure Neatsfoot Oil
2. Dyeing with Fiebing's Leather Pro Dye with dip method
3. Tokolone used on flesh side of the leather and edges
4. Couple thin layers of Fiebing's Resolene (50/50 mixed with water)

You either have to start using a leather that's waterproof/weather resistant or start treating what you have with like mink oil or something to treat the leather. What your doing now is fine for stay dry all the time products. Check leathers like a harness leather or equivalent that's hot stuffed with oils and waxes.

i treat mine with a coat of nfo then Feibings golden mink oil. So far two a half years on my dogs and no problems.

Leather treatments with silicon oil are good waterproofing.  Fiebings saddle oil is another option.  For tack, I ask customers to maintain it by cleaning and conditioning, and oiling as needed.
