How to fix tack keepers?

How should I go about fixing leather keepers that have broke on a bridle? One side of the keeper is still attached. Was thinking I'd glue it back with leather cement and maybe put a stitch or 2 in it but want to hear what more experienced people would do.

But, a glue joint is a poor repair. I would make a new keeper and either wrap it fully around the strap(s) or slice open the sewing joining two straps, push the keeper ends in between and re-sew

I do these quite a bit. They are fiddly, but they can be stitched back into place.  Glue is useless, especially if the tack is  satched in NF  oil . 

I slot the end of the keeper back in place , ( open it up , if need be)  and put a few stitches in, not just one side, but both sides. Otherwise,  guaranteed  the other side will fail shortly  after .

Seems likely that the keeper is stretched out of shape or the stitching holes are torn out. I would make a new keeper and resew both sides of the buckle turn using the old holes. Need an awl to make holes in the keeper once it’s sandwiched between the layers of the turn. Angle the awl to sew the second side of the keeper.  Here’s the method.
