Doubleojedi Report post Posted January 13 Hello everyone. I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer too on online. It may be that the answer is so obvious that it is staring me in the face but here goes. When you are stitching something that is tubular like an arrow case or a quiver, and you want to add straps around it, or something like decorative ends, how do you cut the outer leather to allow for the extra circumference required? I use pricking irons to mark out my stitch line, should I put a stitch line on the bottom leather and then overlay the straps with a matching stitching pattern. If I stitch an outer leather to the core of the quiver surely it won't be long enough when it comes to assembling the quiver ? Or do I make my "tube" first and then attempt to stitch a strap to it? I hope Im sort of making sense to someone it seems more difficult to explain than it should be. Here is a picture of someones quiver taken of the net, to illustrate what I mean. quiver-finished-this-morning-pattern-by-creative-awl-v0-nmr6g2rlzyt81.webp
Handstitched Report post Posted January 13 For me , a lot of guess work was involved, measuring, cutting, adjusting, shaping, marking stitch lines by hand etc. ...repeat. . I have learnt that what works on paper or a cardboard template, turns out to be different when used on leather. Just when I thought I had everything right, measurements etc. , nothing fitted the way it should have. I used a length of PVC drain pipe for the shape. Not sure if this is of any use to you. That link never opened. HS
