BDAZ Report post Posted January 19 I want to make a 1"x18" leather stropping belt for a Work Sharp Ken Onion knife sharpener. I am trying to figure out how to join the two ends to avoid either a hump or snapping the belt. Clearly will skyve the leather to 50% at the joint and possibly glue some light weight fabric as a reinforcement on the back, but otherwise have no idea how to do it. Thanks! DieselTech Report post Posted January 19 My 1" x 42" leather strop belt has about a 3/4" long tapered skive & then glued together. If you want a stronger glue joint. Buy some 1" fabric reinforcement tape & add a piece of it to the back of the belt at the glue joint.
