juki lu 563 hand wheel pulley shaft size?

Recommended Posts

hello, i picked up a juki lu 563 and have got it running really well thanks to the help here. the videos from uwe were instrumental!!

anyway, i have upgraded to a servo motor with a 5:1 speed reducer, so it slows awesomely slow. i am learning, so that is nice. my only dislike with that, is that it’s almost impossible to turn the hand wheel by hand. i can reach under and turn the big pulley on the speed reducer, but it’s awkward. i’d like to change the pulley on the hand wheel to a larger one, to give me more leverage to turn it. i’m aware this will slow it down further, but i’m fine with that. it will still sew way faster than i need if i use full pedal! that’s with the motor set on the lowest speed as well. i’m using it for marine upholstery so far, not leather. it has plenty of power as is.

does anyone know what diameter the shaft is? and is it straight or tapered? do i need a puller to remove it? or is it just held on with set screws? i’m at work and can’t just look at my machine or i would just take it off and measure myself!

Does your servo motor have a brake?  Pressing the pedal a bit may release the brake making it much easier to turn.  The brake may be able to be disconnected.  Do a Google search for servo motor and brake.  "site:leatherworker.net servo motor brake"  Type in this string without the quotes.  site:URL limits the search to the URL specified.
