sign216 Report post Posted May 6, 2024 I found this vintage folding ruler, that I carry with me daily to confirm measurements. The gilded stamping about the automatic coal stokers adds real character, but I don't want it to wear away. Is there a wax, shellac, or other finish that will protect it from wear? chuck123wapati Report post Posted May 6, 2024 That is cool ! you might try resolene it is a leather sealer. It may harden or change the color of the case a bit so definitely try it or any product you go with on a something else similar before committing. sign216 Report post Posted May 7, 2024 Chuck, I looked up Resolene, and it sounds like a good application. Thanks, I'll give it a try. Joe

Joe Remember to dilute it 50/50 with water. You can apply 2/3 coats letting it dry in between. It will put a shine on it.
sign216 Report post Posted May 7, 2024 Toxo, Thanks for that tip. I'll probably do 3 coats, just to maximize the protection. Joe
