Members EdgarM Posted August 11, 2024 Members Report Posted August 11, 2024 Hi, I bought a juki dnu-241 with a broken check spring, and am having some problem replacing it. I removed the screw market by the blue arrow but can't remove the black piece, is there something else holding it in place? i never replaced this and don't want to break something. Can I install the spring without removing the black piece? Thanks for any help. Quote
Moderator Wizcrafts Posted August 11, 2024 Moderator Report Posted August 11, 2024 There is a screw going into the housing that holds the check spring shaft in place. You should see it on the right side behind your arrow. Loosen it and wiggle the shaft out. The screw's job is not just to hold the assembly in place. It also is used to adjust the spring force. You would loosen that set screw, then rotate, then use a screwdriver blade to rotate the shaft to the left or right for more or less force. Once you are happy with the spring setting, lock the shaft down with the set screw. Quote

I think I will file the burr for now and maybe order a new one to install later. Thanks again. Quote
