Chef niloc Report post Posted August 15 (edited) anyone know a maker using MagnaCut steel to make blades (swivel, and or round knives ) before I start making special requests (light nudge to Paul) Edited August 15 by Chef niloc
DieselTech Report post Posted August 15 Yeah I believe there is 2 people that I know of. I believe they offer Magnacut steel. Lmao now I just need to think of their names. BTW they are not cheap. $300-$450 dollar a knife.

Mablung Report post Posted August 18 Drifting the thread just slightly: Is there a particular reason you want MagnaCut steel specifically? The stuff is good, but there are other steels that will work for leatherwork just as well, especially the older tool steels. This sort of cutting requires a lot of regular stropping, and for edge retention, the biggest thing is heat treatment. A lot of other steels, stainless and “high carbon” tool alike, will do the job just as well, for less money (and with an easier time finding the tools). Paul makes great knives and I’ll definitely get him to make me one. Sharpening, maintenance dropping not a big issue. 2x72 leather belt on the grinder loaded with fine diamond compound usually does the trick. Given the means to get a new knife, “Because I don’t have [insert option] and want one” is good enough, lol.
