Adler Needles

Recommended Posts

Good day all, I am trying to find some needles for an old Adler leather sewing machine. The number on the current needle is NF280/28. I have searched for this and the needles that come up are slightly shorter. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Sound like a very big needle size, I guess it is Metric size NM 280 / US size 28 .

Can you post a picture or the model number of your Adler machine?

As above 280 /28 the metric size and US size respectively of the blade of the needle.

If the needle is 2.5mm in diameter and 60mm from the top to the top of the eye it is likely (or is equivalent) to class 7x1 (aka 794). The larger adler (204 and 205) and cowboy machines as will as the singer 7x33 class and consew 733 use 7x1 (leather) and 7x3 (cloth) (aka 794) needle class.

I have Adler 205, Singer 7-33, 7-33 and singer 144's machines that all use 794 class needles.

IIRC the Adler 4, 5, 104, 105 came ex factory set up for 328 / 214 needles. And I think most of the 204 & 205 also came with 328 / 214 needles. I think the triple feed (like 205-370) used the 794.

@TinaD let us know what machine model you have.
