Hello everyone I am thinking about buying a SINGER MODEL : 153W103 and I would like

to hear if you have any info on the model.

don't know anything about it but it look like a machine i may be interested in.

there are a few of them on ebay for around $450

It is an old style singer cylinder arm machine, about 3/8 " max material thickness, small bobin, thread capacity 69,99, maybe 138, good for sewing bags , garments, ect.

And no reverse (if that is important to you, not totally necessary unless you do canvaswork).

there is a guy on ebay that reconditions and sells machine.

he is selling one and says it will easily handle 207 thread

Hi Roger,

He is right, you can run 207 through most of the medium scale machines if they are adjusted for it and the needle bar will hold a large enough needle. Watch it though, some of those things are set-up to run like a scalded cat, which isn't necessarily what you want a leather machine to do.

First Machine, new machine is best.

Well Thanks for the posts I am going to pass on the 153. I am thinking about a artisan 3000 but I will ahve to put it on layaway or something.

What do you think about the artisan 3000?

Hi Nick,

Do a search (click on Search on the bar at top of page) on Artisan 3000 and you will find 4 or so pages of posts on that machine, overwhelmingly favorable.
