shadowryder Report post Posted 8 hours ago Hi Ladies and gents , it is a couple of years since I was last on the site as other things in life took over from my leather working but was a case of needs must. Anyway I have been asked to make some Jeans belts for a shooting colleague at our club, He is looking for something quite sturdy at 3.5 to 4mm thick and 40 mm wide. I know its a lazy way but I am thinking of buying some dyed through belt blanks in the correct width /thickness, and then finishing the edges, punching holes and fitting buckles/keepers looking at choices available to me I have oiled tan , buffalo veg tan, italian veg tan or plain simple cowhide veg tan. could someone please advise?? Also having just watched hidepounders "Edging tutorial" I could use some advice on a decent edging tool as when using my current tool I end up with a concave edge on both sides of the leather rather than a rounded edge once again all and any advice much appreciated, Thanks all, JJ veg tan oil tan
