Thadrick Report post Posted December 30, 2024 So I live in my steel toe loggers for 16 hours a day at work and play and feel naked without them. I only have one pair of tenis shoes that are about 5 years old that I purchased solely for swimming the rivers and resevours. I also have a decent pair of motocross boots that I hate. They are stiff and trying to walk in them is as comfortable as walking barefoot on the railrod tracks. Shifting and braking on my motorcycle requires serious concentration and I usually find my self shifting on accident when taking jumps because the motocross boots are stiff and push the shift lever when I shift my weight on landings. Its not a problem when Im wearing my loggers and tend to have much better control and feel. Do you think that maybe building some leggins (whatever a person might refer to them as) out of some #12oz saddle leather would give me enough protection for motocross and endouro riding? That way I can continue to ride with my loggers instead of dedicated motocross boots? If so, does anyone have any plans or ideas I could look at while I design a pair for myself? I been meaning to make a pair of snake gaiters for when out metal detecting in the woods. I was going to use some 12+oz real elephant hide, I heard & have read it is the most puncture resistant of any other leathers. As far as a pattern, I was going to use some heavy poster board to come up with a pattern.
Thadrick Report post Posted December 30, 2024 Thats another topic also. Last year I discovered That I can no longer hear rattle snakes. Stumbled into 3 of them while prairie dog hunting and my buddy had to point at them so I didnt step on them. Even after knowing exactly where they were with my eyes directly on them, I could not hear them. My buddy said they were singing very loud but, nothing. Im not affraid of snakes at all but, I sure would like to know Im not going to get bit by one because I couldnt hear its warnings..
