Top thread double wrapping on bobbin case Consew 227R clone

Recommended Posts

I just bought a Consew 227R clone and the machine seems to sew pretty well but when you stop a stitch and try to pull the material out there is are two extra pieces of thread coming up through the dog plate. These are from an extra wrap of the top thread around the bobbin but I cannot figure out what is causing it.  I have checked all of the bobbin timing and it all seems good but the manual refers to setting the relationship between the hook and hook thread separate bracket (which I think is the bobbin latch opening). I am wondering INV if this could be causing the issue but I have looked at the manual and cannot figure out how make this adjustment.  Anyone have any insight on this?

You need to wait until the needle has risen to its top position and starts to descend before pulling the material out.  The stitch hasn't been completed before that point.  So just handwheel it a little further and problem gone.

Another thing - I was having a similar issue with my 111W. Thread hanging up in the bobbin and causing thread doubled up, an extra thread sometimes dragging along the stitch line.

I was holding the thread back too hard and the top thread would split on the point of the hook.

I picked this up from somewhere I read to hold the thread back hard. Which is applicable to my 441 clone.

Since I started holding the 111 threads back lightly, like on a domestic, zero problems.

I don't know if this is your problem, it just struck me when I saw your problem.

Thanks @Northmount I feel stupid that it was such a simple fix but am glad it wasn’t as complicated as I thought.

We are all still learning, and re-learning things we were good at a few years before!
