Bought my first one when I was 16. Has sharpened many upon many a Buck/Gerber/Puma knife, scissors and all of my leather working tools.

Still use it, but it has dulled from medium to a dull fine by now after over 45 years.

The 4 pack is a great deal - one of the few things that is cheaper in the US than in Europe.

I can very highly recommend them.

I have gotten accustomed to move the file over the object to be sharpened and not the object over a stone - I go by the shadow method to actually see progress and thus know when desired finished edge is achieved.         Actually, I don´t use any other method any more, haven´t for decades.         That is not including the strop, though.

They have other diamond files as well - have not owned any of them

Greetings

Hans

i use the round sportsman's model with a brass handle I've managed to wear out two of them in the last 40 + years. they are a great product no doubt. I sharpen my awls similarly to what you do; it's much easier on tiny blades to get the proper angle.
