FORTUNA #12572

Hey all!

 

I just found this old machine and want to bring it back to its former glory. I am looking for any information about this model, parts-list, manuals etc. I have tried contacting Fortuna directly without much luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you search LW for Fortuna skivers?  Many of the parts are the same between model numbers, and with some competitors.  There have been quite a number of posts over the past few years.

Here another vid - from Mivel - he makes many about restoring old leather/sewing machines - no gabbering as well - just pics and some tunes - like on all of his vids.

Seems to be your exact model - where the screw to bring the sharpening stone closer to the bell knife is on the back side of the machine (1916).

And one more thing to remember with every skiver:

DO NOT start it with the sharpening stone mechanism engaged.

Let the motor and bellknife achieve proper rpm before engaging the sharpening stone drive.

Always check. it does not cost anything.

But that is the way it is supposed to be done.
