Recently acquired this old girl, 1902 vintage.

I notice it doesn’t have a thread tension spring. Wanting to know if it would have originally had one. I read that the 29K4 has one.

However, the machine does sew without skipped stitches.

Do you mean the spring on the inside of the needle bar ?

AFAIK the very early needle bars did not have this spring built in - if it sews without any probs - just keep it that way.
