wolvenstien Report post Posted March 23, 2007 lets get this Shing Ding started! I want to hear from everyone about everything. We want to keep this nice and simple for the members here. If you have suggestions, make them You think someone here that isnt apart of the crew might be an asset, speak up. anything goes here so lets not be shy. We want to get this going do that we can have a contest final (or whatever) for the sites one year! Anyone have idead as to what we want to do? If we can get things for the "winner" how about ribbons for everyone who enters? Do we wanna keep it simple and just for the beginners? A carving contest? or tell them to make a certain thing? Toss you thoughts in here and lets get this started!
pepin1948 Report post Posted March 23, 2007 I'm a little confused, I thought there was already a section for the advisers, and there were a few posts already (including one from me) in it?
wolvenstien Report post Posted March 24, 2007 No confusion, just trying to make different sections for us to discuss things.
pepin1948 Report post Posted March 25, 2007 ahhh, well I'm all for talk, and especially if it gets this thing going! Ribbons are a great idea, or at the least (and cheaper) a very nice certificate suitable to frame. There should be divisions like beginner, novice, master (and we need to define what's meant by those - i.e. a beginner is working with leather less than x number/years). We need to decide if we want to do different "classes" (i.e. carved/tooled, stamped, finished/stained, untreated) and/or different items or if we want everyone to try the same item/pattern. My thought would be to present a pattern and have everyone do what they want with it.
FrankZaharek Report post Posted March 26, 2007 Sorry I've been so slow to post on this topic but we're dealing with the wife's diagnosis of cancer so bear with me. For the beginer level winner I'm donating a copy of the 2-Shews booklet I put out at the Butler show. This is the last copy till the new one is finished which will be much expanded. Since I'm thinking clerly at this time I'll refrain from any suggestiond but will comment on any made to the best of my ability.
