Members khoiphan92 Posted February 21, 2008 Members Report Posted February 21, 2008 Hi i am in the process of making a long wallet. I also have a few questions. Heres mine so far i am making a double layered wallet like corter here I dont understand how he can make the inside piece as long and wide as the outside. Wont when, when you bend the wallet, the inside piece will be longer than the outside piece? please shed some light if you can thanks alot. Quote
Ambassador abn Posted February 21, 2008 Ambassador Report Posted February 21, 2008 Khoiphan, I can't speak for Corter, but I think it's entirely possible that his inside piece is shorter than his outside one. It's sometimes hard to see these subtle differences in dimensions when the project is completely assembled. For what it's worth, I make my exterior piece 1 cm longer than my interior piece and that seems to work for my wallets. You may need to play with the dimensions a bit to find some that work well for your design. I hope this information helps, and please be sure to post pics of your completed project. Looks great so far! Regards, Alex Quote
electrathon Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 I didn't see this post origionally (just the other one), now I see what you are trying to do. The thickness of the two layers of leather are going to prevent the wallet from either staying open or staying closed automaticly. It is more comfortable for a wallet to stay closed when you are carrying it so that is how they are usually made. As stated in the other post, the center of the lining was cut out of Corters wallet, so it will bend easier. In the one you are making, the double layer of leather is going to cause issues. What I would do is fold the main piece and then fold the outter section over it (wet form it). Then contact the two togeather and start sewing. Aaron Quote
