bruce johnson Report post Posted January 19, 2009 A couple weeks ago I posted the first holster and got some excellent feedback. End of that week Rhome invited me to his shop and helped me with developing patterns and molding. I was out of the shop for a week, but got the redo finished up last night. It fits much tighter than the first one, the slots are shorter but wider, and it is molded much more. I still would like the stitch line to be a little tighter to the trigger guard, but overall, I am happier with how this one came together. Some of the reflection disorts how it really looks. I used a 3/8 section of dowel for a sight channel, but in the pictures it appears almost pinched. Brutal criticism welcomed.

It's got form, fit, function and looks good. I see what you mean about the stitch around the trigger guard, though. That's all I could find that I'd work on. I see all that nice flat area and wonder how some tooling would look.
Rhome Report post Posted January 19, 2009 Outstanding IMHO !! I must also say that when Bruce was at my shop I had the pleasure of seeing some of his other work and must admit that I think Bruce taught me more than I him. His is an outstanding leather artisan and human being and am proud to call him Friend. Best, Rhome
Shorts Report post Posted January 19, 2009 Beautiful work Bruce. As already noted, the stitch around the trigger guard could be a hint more rounded to match the curves. Frankly, that's not much of a deal anyway! Its beautiful! What color are you using? That's very a smooth and warm color you went with.
bruce johnson Report post Posted January 19, 2009 Thanks for the compliments. The color is full strength Feibings British Tan dye.
Shorts Report post Posted January 19, 2009 On the thumb break, did you use a piece of metal reinforcement where the snap sits?
bruce johnson Report post Posted January 19, 2009 Yes, I do have a metal reinforcement, and it is on the backside of this one.
