RockStar Customs

Recommended Posts

I received this custom order last week. The artwork was supplied by the customer, obviously they haven't figured out that a custom seat is supposed to have cool art, not lots of words.

Hopefully they will figure that out some day.

Any way here is the build all in one entry.

Lookin' good as always Dave. Those are some perfect straight lines and I love that FAT lacing! Is that just single loop with a huge lace?

The lacing is a modified basketweave. Where ever you are supposed to go "under" on a standard basketweave, go "over" instead. It gives a nice herringbone pattern.

The lines were of course cut with a swivel knive against a straight edge.

Nicely done, David. I think they sent their custom order to the right place, I don't know anyone else that can take lots of words and turn it into cool art.

Great work David...

p.s. my 2 cent..if everyone had artistic skills they wouldnt need you....just think what it would look like if they did the work,....plain and very flat!....you gave it depth & style!

someone famous once said...you can lead a horse to water but you cant make him drink..lol

keep up the great work ....and get ready for the next design

Very Nice!I like the lace, it really makes the seat pop!

David, What stain Are you using there, is it a hi-light or leather glow? And Where did You get that neat Glass leather slicker!

Thanks for the comments everyone. There is no stain on the seat. I gave the raw leather seat a coat of Lexol and then mixed a combination of Medium brown and Sheridan paste antiquing for the final color.

Just thought I'd try something different.

Yeah, I got a Barry King glass slicker and it is sure aptly named. That leather felt like glass. I like it a lot and won't be doing any carving without it.
