equiss Report post Posted January 21, 2009 Hi All, I am looking to buy (a little at a time) some of the old back issues that are no longer available of the leather crafters and saddlers journal. If you have some that you would want to part with, please let me know. I have no idea what a reasonable offer would be, I am trying to 1) learn all I can about all kinds of projects 2) collect them 3) get a lot of the back articles, which would be less expensive to buy the editions Most of what I need are pre 2004. Thanks Much, you can also call me at 503-551-8298, or email always works too!
gtwister09 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 FYI, Back in 2002 or 2003 a library sold a complete set from 1956 to 2001 for $14,500. I have seen single issues on eBay for anywhere between a $2 to a little over $24. Good luck. Regards, Ben

I was on their site, and I was thinking from 1991 on to 2006 is really what I need or am looking for. Thanks for the information, maybe dimmed my hopes a little, but I will keep looking, and if I have to - buy one at a time! Charlene

I have most of the back issues that they have for sale, they are out of a lot of them, those are the ones I am trying to find! Maybe I can get a few here and there, I didn't realize the magazine was that old due to their site only selling back issues to 1991. Thanks again! ClayB Report post Posted January 22, 2009 The Leather Crafters and Saddlers Journal is just the latest name. It started out as The Leather Craftsman in 1956. Then changed to The Craftsman in 1962. In 1972 the name changed to Make It with Leather. In 1985 they went back to The Leather Craftsman. I am not sure when they changed to the Leather Crafters Journal, somewehere around 1991 and then after a few years they went to Leather Crafters and Saddlers Journal as it is now. The magazine has gone through several owners and a couple of bankruptcies in it's long history.
