Sawyer Report post Posted January 22, 2009 Here's the beginning of a set of saddlebags for my ShovelheadSoftail. They're larger than most but should hold my leather gear and some cold beer. This is a mock up/trail fit as i still got some more carving on the top panel and lid side panel, trimming, staining , lacing and to make another one to match. Windy Report post Posted January 24, 2009 (edited) Nice work I've only done Western style for Cowboy Action..It is alot of work because I do not have a machine..You can't charge enough for your time but hey it sure was satisfying to see the look on Fasts face the first time he saw em! Why can't you charge enough for your time? Is there a law I have missed somewhere? Please explain this to me. Nice work on the bags Sawyer. Steve Lowe Report post Posted June 18, 2012 Sawyer Any saddlebag that holds COLD BEER is okay in my book. Looking fan-dadgum-tastic so far. What is the weight of the leather you are using? And a pattern or method.... what and how did you do it? I iride an '06 Street Bob and am "NEEDING" some new bags. At least I tell my wife I NEED some new bags..... wink wink nudge nudge nudge say no more knowhatImean??? I have some crap bags and want some custom leather ones and I dont want to go with a pattern because I want the bags to fit in a certain way. Any thoughts? chancey77 Report post Posted June 18, 2012 The bags look GREAT! But go get yourself some small zip ties...it holds everything real nice and is much easier to put on instead of all that sewing thread:) Keep Pounding! C
