Used Head Knife 4 Sale?

I've never used a head knife but want to learn. I thought before I go out and buy one I would see if anyone here has a used one for sale.

just my 2 bits . As you can get a tandy one that will need thined and sharpend for about 30 bucks on sale or there is some places you can get a new one ready from some guys for as little as 50- 60 bucks share and ready to go. if it was me I would get one from Duwayne that is ready to use now. you will enjoy a good head knife look at it as your steping up in tools .

Duey also does sharpening and dabbles in other tools as well. I have not used any of his other tools. The many comments that I have heard about his sharpening has been good.

the tandy al stohlman one may still be on sale for $30, probably not the best but I like mine. It works great. Had to sharpen it up and also had to finish pinging the brass pins and file them off which kind of annoyed me but ahh well its working great.

Must say I was skeptical of head knifes until I actually cut with one then it was like wow.

Wow superchute, someone in my neck of the woods. I was going to order the one from tandy, but with shipping, Duwayne's would be about the same price.

Here is the price list he emailed to me on 2-05-09. He told me at that time he was 6 months backlogged.

Prices for sharpening tools

Awl Blades $1.50

Leather Scissors $5.00

Belt and strap end cutters $4.00

Bag punches and round punches$4.00

Edgers $3.00

Regular swivel knife blade $1.50

Regular swivel knife blade thin blade and or change angle $3.00

Beader swivel knife blade $3.00

Hennley swivel knife blade $3.00

Hennley swivel knife beader blade $4.00

Ceramic swivel knife blade $4.00

Ceramic swivel knife beader blade $5.00

Head/Round knife $4.00 unless blade is badly pitted or in other wise bad shape then e-mail for quote

Skiving, Square point Bevel point knife or any other utility type knife $3.00

Splitter blades $1.00 per inch for length of blade

Clicker Dies $1.00 per inch $0.25 for each hole punch in die

Round blades such as the offa cutters or the crank type strap cutters $5.00

Prices for custom made tools

The mauls and mallet heads are made from a Ultra-High Molecular weight Polyethylene (UHMW) for short. The handles are each hand turned from stacked leather washers.

Mauls either tapered of straight head $57.00

Mallets either flat on both faces, 5 deg. Taper on each face, or a combo with on face flat and the other face with a 5 deg. Taper. $57.00

Round knife $56.00

Half round knife $56.00

Edger small 2oz to 5oz leather, med. 5oz to 9oz leather and large 10oz and thicker leather $20.00

Bleeder knot knife $20.00

Straight or angled small skiveing knife $20.00

Stitch cutter $20.00

Wood handled x-acto type knife uses size #11 blade one blade included $15.00

Lookie what came in the mail today....a friend on another knife forum heard I was whining about one so he had this one from an estate sale or something......and sent it off to me....

No stamping or makers mark, but looks like good ole carbon steel to me.....now if you'll excuse me I'm off to the sharpening tutorial....

Following the tutorial on this forum I quickly put a nice edge on this knife and started using it right away....I'm liking it! I used it lots already, including to make this new home for it....

Nice work Rayban,1 have one hangin behind the Bar but never got the hang of using it! It's an old one prob a good one.Any adv from those folks who use them regularly?I am here to learn new skills.
