I finally have a break in the action, so I figured out the mexican braid. I'm still having some problems with corners and finishing, but that'll come. I've started making these money clips, and the braid works well with them. what do you think?

Very, very nice! Everything about it looks professional. How long to do the braid?

Wow, looks nice. I love the one that looks like wooden boards with nails. It's really neat :D

Nice work. Braids are hard. They look nice and neat.

Timd1159,

They look fantastic! What type of leather lace did you use and what size were the holes? On the one that has the fabric lining, how did you cut the holes to lace the leather? It's hard to tell because of the dark background. I would like to try one of those to work on lacing technique. Are those really heavy duty magnets?

Thanks and they are really wonderful.

Tiny, I'm using Tandy's superior lace, 1/8". I use a stitching wheel to lay out the holes, then punch 3/32 holes. The cloth one was a treat, at first I just used the cloth, and it started fraying really bad, so I glued it to the 2oz. leather, and it worked. The magnets are pretty aggresive, they're 9 lb. I was carrying the black one in my front pocket, and got too close to a filing cabinet, and I got stuck....lol.

Greybeard, thanks.

All around good job! I liked the fabric lined one. Thanks for sharing how that was put together. Oh - and thanks for the file cabinet warning. :)

Thanks Crystal. They really are some potent magnets.
