2MadJacks Report post Posted February 5, 2009 I am thinking of going to the boot and saddle school just for the saddle portion. And was wondering if anyone here has attended this school or could give any advise. Okmulgee is just about 45 minutes south of Tulsa. Thanks I would appreciate any type of advise. As it stands right now with my wife in nursing school, I wouldn't be able to start until this fall. Thanks again, James
Randyc Report post Posted February 5, 2009 A friend of mine by the name of Brian Thomas went through boot school at Omulgee many years ago. He's now a custom boot maker in Abeline Texas. I believe he thinks rather highly of the school. Randy
rustyriggin Report post Posted February 6, 2009 I have some things from a guy that went through that school. They are very nice, he went there after losing a foot, looking for a hobby. He made a gun belt for my dad with a custom holster to fit a .44 with a scope. He made a real nice boot for himself (I know thats bad, but it's true). Anyway they seem to know what they are teaching there. FWIW
Denise Report post Posted February 6, 2009 The website doesn't give names of instructors. Do they tell you who will be teaching if you ask? I think that would be crucial to know.
2MadJacks Report post Posted February 6, 2009 Thanks RandyC and Rustyriggin so now I know at least two that have done well for themselves after attending. Denise you have a good point. I will call maybe today or monday and ask for the instructors and their saddle making history. I have a friend that went there back in the 70s but all has changed since then. Thanks folks for your quick responses, James
