Opagon Report post Posted February 12, 2009 Had some fun orders come in and thought that I would share. 10 ft long trail reins in 12 plait kangaroo with rawhide knots and slobber straps - She wanted a little color so I added some green to the grab knots and the knot marking center. Headstall for a lady in TX - I really enjoy the red and cant wait for her to send me pictures of it on her horse. Keep Braiding, Heather
megabit Report post Posted February 12, 2009 Ok, I always hate it when I post stuff and all anybody says is hey that looks good. So I took a look at this trying my damnedest to find something to pick on to help you improve. Foiled again I can't find anything. ;D String look very evenly cut, patterns are crisp and clean, knots look perfect. Only think I can complain about is how bad your work makes mine look. HorsehairBraider Report post Posted February 12, 2009 That red's going to look sharp - do you know what color horse? What a great way to dress up a headstall! I like the reins, the color adds a real nice touch. I like your slobber straps, too.
skip Report post Posted February 12, 2009 (edited) so what kind of money do you get for a headstall like that. very nice work. there are so many headstalls like that with rawhide buttons that sale very cheeply that is why I am asking. keep up the nice work. btw what is the base/core of your reins? did you braid around a rope core? thanks for posting Edited February 12, 2009 by skip
rawhide1 Report post Posted February 13, 2009 Heather Nice work !!! I like the colors on the headstall. All your knots out of roo look great. Hoping not to offend as I know you didn't ask for a critque (sp). I think if you would split your rawhide down some the strings would lay better in your knots. As I said please don't take offense. Opagon Report post Posted February 16, 2009 No offense taken Mike - She wanted something with a little "grab" to it so it wouldn't slip in her hands. When I asked about the knots for the slobbers she said make it match. The Customer is always right...lol Speaking of the customer always being right, I sent the pics to the lady and TX and there wasn't enough red so I added more. Skip - I use leather belting as a core unless I am trying to get a really soft feel then I will use a high test climbers rope. Megabit - there is a reason I didnt photograph the front of the slobber straps ...lol... They need lots and lots of work. I think I will be buying them from now on.... Thanks Horsehair, I really like the concept but as I said my slobber straps need lots of work. Keep Braiding, Heather
