Big Papa Leather Report post Posted February 24, 2009 I was wondering ya'lls opinion on the maker mark deal. Do you apply your mark to every item you make? For example, I have had some request for simple bracelets. Just quick simple carvings and such, but I have not been putting any identifying marks on them as they are small and the space is limited. How do you do it? Allen
tashabear Report post Posted February 24, 2009 I don't apply it all the time. Sometimes I just forget, sometimes there's no place to put it. Sometimes I want to put it on the flesh side, and my maker's mark just doesn't give a good impression on that side, so I do one of two things: either I draw my initial with a fine-point Sharpie in an unobtrusive place, or I use the Tiwaz rune from my rune set. ArtS Report post Posted February 24, 2009 If it's not fitting to put my mark on it I will put my mark on a key fob or something like that and just tie it on. Art
leatherworklee Report post Posted March 15, 2009 I use my Dad's old livestock brand which is now recorded to me in the state of Idaho. It is a G and a sideways or Lazy Y connected I have several different sizes of letter stamps and can nearly always find room for it somewhere. i feel like I finish projects better if I know that mark is going on. If I have room I usually use 3/16 inch stamps for the brand and at least 09 or 2009 or whatever year. On Larger projects I like to use Tandys 3-D stamp " Handcrafted By"with the mallet, swivel knife and head knife and then put the G-lazy-Y on that.
