I can't tell you about the mauls but I have both Osborne and Weaver edgers and I much prefer the Weaver, Osborne had a monopoly for too long and most of their modern tools aren't worth spit. That being said though, I probably have about 10 round or head knives and my favorite is a modern Osborne (to use everyday). I have one from the seventies and one that had a rubberoid coating on the handle I assume from the sixties and niether of them will take or keep an edge.

I have both mauls and I use my BK much more frequent then the Mark V maul. I believe you cannot go wrong with the BK for the money. I believe they are almost comparable. Good luck

Pay a little more and get the Weaver Master Tool Maul (with the leather handle). It is made by Barry King. I bought the 64oz and Barry's name is stamped right into the metal. You will save money and have the best maul in town.
