Ambassador Luke Hatley Posted March 2, 2009 Ambassador Report Posted March 2, 2009 Got an old gun case in to do some re burbish & repair. the lining has came loose on the inside. the lining was never sewn on the closer part. it looked to me like it was glued to some type of thin paper board then glued to the leather. anyone have an idea what type of paper that is. i do not think that the lining just glued to the leather will work. any sugestions. Members TomLine Posted March 12, 2009 Members Report Posted March 12, 2009 NRA had a gun calendar one year of presidential guns. Harry Truman had a home made gun case that looked like it was carefully handmade / homemade, and was carefully and lovingly lined with an an old wool shirt. Anyway it looked awesome. Quote
Ambassador Luke Hatley Posted March 12, 2009 Author Ambassador Report Posted March 12, 2009 soooo... how is the best way to attach the pile lining or will contac glue hold the lining in place. Quote
Contributing Member TwinOaks Posted March 12, 2009 Contributing Member Report Posted March 12, 2009 What about some type of ribbon/strip? You could whip stitch the shearling (presuming you're using shearling) to the strip and then glue that to the leather so you have a denser surface for the glue. You also get a clean-ish edge instead of variable thickness wads of shearling(?) Use a thread that closely matches the color of the liner and it'll be nearly invisible. Option 2. Add a new stitch line next to the closure. ? Quote
