Members ruthless Posted March 15, 2009 Members Report Posted March 15, 2009 I have another question! When I'm riveting collars I find it hard to get the rivets straight. I always measure carefully, but somehow they always end up crooked Is there any kind of template you can get or tricks of the trade to help me get them straight every time? Quote
Ambassador Luke Hatley Posted March 15, 2009 Ambassador Report Posted March 15, 2009 (edited) your rivets are probably too long. try the next size shorter.post should be 1/16 " above the leather. Edited March 15, 2009 by Luke Hatley Quote Luke
Members ruthless Posted March 16, 2009 Author Members Report Posted March 16, 2009 I'm not sure that's the problem, but I'll keep it in mind, thanks Quote
tashabear Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Are you whacking the hell out of them, or are you tapping gently? Other than them being too long (which would be my bet too), hitting them too hard would be my next guess. Quote
Members ruthless Posted March 16, 2009 Author Members Report Posted March 16, 2009 Nope, tapping gently. Maybe I'm punching too big holes Quote
esantoro Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Try making the post flush with the leather or not more than 1/32" higher than the hole. Experiment with some scrap leather. Ed Quote http://www.waldenbags.com http://www.waldenbags.etsy.com
