Members viejo Posted April 4, 2009 Members Report Posted April 4, 2009 I've just recently had someone ask if I could make a sporran for them. Are there patterns available, or did you just "wing" it? Quote
Members TomBanwell Posted April 4, 2009 Members Report Posted April 4, 2009 I'm just curious: How is a sporran different than a purse? Quote
Members viejo Posted April 4, 2009 Members Report Posted April 4, 2009 I think that Sporran is pronounced with a scottish brogue, and purse isn't...... As coming from Scottish ancestory, I think I can spill the secret, Sporran really means "man purse". That was a joke..... Quote
Members MHolzer Posted April 4, 2009 Members Report Posted April 4, 2009 (edited) Tom, a sporran is the "pockets" of a kilt. It's worn in the front like a belt pouch both to keep your keys etc in, but also to keep the kilt from doing a "Marilyn". So really the only difference is where one wears it. (Though there is somewhat of a size limitation when wearing any sort of pouch as a sporran!) Edited April 4, 2009 by MHolzer Quote
