The mantle clock was inspired by Chan Geer.

One darn fine clock!

The floral piece over the top is just awesome, but what intrigues me the most is the little detail on the bottom, the roped line.

Just finishes off the piece so nicely. Is that piece a thinner leather?

Thanks guys. and yes Tom it is thinner leather. Great eye, I skived it down to about 2 oz.

The rest is covered with 5/6 oz.

I want to have the ability to skive too. Moneyissue so I solve it when i can.

Extensive carving is really nice and impressive to the yawdropping point but when you put a simpler detail like this that brings out som nice untouched leather, to me it's just like having a symphonic orchestra playing really well toghether. Hard to explain the feeling but the whole piece just got a sense of complete that often get's left out when you just have the massive stuff.

Thanks for sharing, it's a very good item to draw influence from 'cuz it's about more than just extreme carving/tooling.

Last but not least, a very fuctional item aswell. Hope the mechanics last a long time.

Both pieces looking very good. Funny that you did a tissue box, my wife was bugging me last night to make an Easter theme one for our guest bathroom.

Also, what is that at the end of your mantle? A match box?

WOW ! Good eye tazz. Yup thats a wooden match box holder.

Made out of leather & wood.

I love to put wood & leather together. I think they go well together.
