Machine needle questions

I have recently purchased a new sewing machine and I have several questions about needles. My machine uses the 328 Needle system and the needles that came with it have the LR notation behind the number. I see 328S online also. What does the LR, S, and R mean?

LR = A needle for stitching leather with a reverse twist point.

Right or reverse twist.

Left or regular twist.

S = Narrow cross point.

R = Normal round point. Generally used for sewing cloth type textiles as the round point can push thru the wefts and warps of a weave.

Okay. Here is the next dumb question. What is a reverse twist? and Narrow Cross Point?

My old machine had a chisel point leather needle but it would make a straight line of stitching. This one off sets the thread just a bit making it at an angle. So is the S point the one I use for the straight line?
