Trying some new methods

Recommended Posts

Here is the start of my next holster:

IWB w/reinforced mouth for Glock compact

Leather: 7/8 oz Wickett & Craig

Dye: Angelus black 507

Working on a reinforced mouth to see how it works to keep from colapsing and aid in 1 hand reholstering. Also going to dye before I mold it. Thinking about even trying the dip method. I'm questioning if I should have dipped the pieces before I put them together???

Still got a little more stitching to do...Sure wish I had a sewing machine!!!

I dye mine before I assemble them, but I know a lot of makers don't. It all depends on your build process and what you are comfortable with. Keep us posted!

It looks good so far. I also dye my western holsters before I stitch and mold. It insures that I get dye on all the surfaces and I can keep my stiches white.

I always dye before stitching and moulding, I also dye the inside and use GT on it to give if a smooth surface. I usually re-dye the piece when I'm done moulding and the leather forms up.

Do you use the GT and smooth the interior before you mold it?

Thanks,

Bronson

Yes I use the GB and then use a tandy slicker to smooth it all out and then stitch and mould. I think it works out quite well. If I line the holster then I just dye, stitch and mould.
