Members oldtimer Posted April 6, 2009 Members Report Posted April 6, 2009 This is my first attempt to make a pack saddle. Got some advice from Mulefool in ordering the proper hardware. Thank´s Chris ! The photomodel is a winterfat haflinger named Sting. / Knut Quote "The gun fight at the O.K. corral was actually started by two saddlemakers sitting around a bottle of whiskey talking about saddle fitting"...

Members colttrainer Posted April 7, 2009 Members Report Posted April 7, 2009 Packed many a horse & mules in my day, I don't see anything that would stop me from packing a criiter with that unit. Only thing I could see wrong was it is not broke in LOL. Now all you need is a good pack pad. AL Quote Lloyd Allan custom Leather (Al) Find us at facebook.com/LloydAllanCustomLeather Everyone welcome

yaklady Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 What a cute horse! Looks to me like the pack saddle fits perfectly. What are you going to pack on him? Need a yak to throw up there? Kathy Quote All bad yaks make their way to the freezer.
Members mulefool Posted April 7, 2009 Members Report Posted April 7, 2009 Thanks for posting the picture, I wondered how your project was coming along, and it looks like it turned out well. Looks like he will make a nice pack horse, I've heard good things about those Haflingers. Chris Quote www.horseandmulegear.com
Members oldtimer Posted April 7, 2009 Author Members Report Posted April 7, 2009 Thank´s ! The haflinger was just a photomodel I saddled for the pic. He is round as a barrel so the packsaddle stands right on top of him after a long winter with too much food and too less exercise. Haflingers are nice and sturdy horses and he would make a good pack horse after loosing a pound or hundred.
